Pinecone hedgehogs and rabbits

Pinecone hedgehogs & rabbitsAutumn is a wonderful time of year for crafting. We had a large collection of pinecones we collected, so we wanted to make something with them. We decided to make hedgehogs and Pinky wanted to make a rabbit.

How to make pinecone hedgehogs

Pinecone hedgehogs

 You need

  1. Pinecones
  2. Felt
  3. Googly eyes
  4. Glue
  5. Scissors

First you need to cut a shape out of the felt for the face. We cut a rounded kind of triangle shape for ours.Pinecone hedgehogs cutting the felt

Glue the face on. We used PVA glue, which did work, but if you have something stronger it would last longer. Gluing on the face to make a pinecone hedgehog

Glue on 2 googly eyes, then cut out a small black circular piece of felt and glue it on for the nose and there you have a very simple, but cute looking hedgehog.

To make a rabbit is very similar to the hedgehog. First make bunny ears shapes with the pipe cleaner and twist it round the top of the pinecone. Pinecone rabbit ears making

Cut a piece of pipe cleaner and bend it round in a v shape to make the legs. Glue the pinecone onto the pipe cleaner and you have a very cute little bunny rabbit.Making a pinecone rabbit

Whilst we had the craft things out Pinky decided she also wanted to make a caterpillar, so she got some small pom poms, a lolly stick and glued the pom poms on the stick. She stuck googly eyes on and tried to draw a mouth, but that didn’t work out so well.

I must admit I love all of these creations and now have them on display on top of my fireplace, but I think the rabbit has to be my favourite. The children really enjoyed making them, it such a lovely fun quick autumn craft.
