Cardboard box dolls house

Cardboard box dolls house

When we had a our Garden on a roll delivered several months ago, the plants arrived in two large cardboard boxes, which I kept, thinking ‘I must make something with these’ but they have sat in the shed until now. I got them out and asked Pinky and Boo what we could make with them. They suggested we make a dolls house, so we did……

It was very simple to make. I turned the box upright, cut up a piece of cardboard to fit across in the middle of the box and sellotaped it in. This was very effective for an upstairs.

Next, we bent a piece of cardboard and taped it to the top for the roof. We also made a chimney to top it off.

We closed the cardboard box door front and the girls drew a front door, windows and decorated it as they wanted.

I think it looked quite good as a fun, simple, creative project for them to play with for a short time. You could really go to town and make this look amazing if you wanted to, but we just wanted some simple fun creative play, so I just let the girls do as much or little as they liked.

After decorating Pinky and Boo got their barbies out and played with the house, they even managed to virtually get in there with the dolls!cardboard box dolls house play

The house didn’t last a long time, but that didn’t matter, it was about the creativity, the fun of making it and their imagination.

Now I need to come up with another creation for the other cardboard box!

  1. That’s great, and looks like lots of fun. It’s amazing what kids’ imaginations can do with something as simple as a big cardboard box. On those rare occasions we have something delivered that comes in a large enough box, it always becomes the most popular thing to play with for our boys – they’ve built castles, planes, cars, all sorts of stuff with it .. :-) #MMWBH
